Colorado Custom LASIK Vision
Correction
Laser Eye Surgery with CustomVue Wavefront LASIK in the Denver & Boulder Metro Area
It is important that you have realistic expectations about LASIK
and the results it offers. For this reason, Dr. Levinson wants to
dispel these common misperceptions about the procedure.
Myth #1 "I'll see perfectly after
LASIK and never have to wear glasses again."
LASIK is an excellent procedure, but it's not perfect.
Your uncorrected vision after LASIK may not be as sharp as your
corrected vision before LASIK. You may need to wear a mild prescription
to fine-tune your vision. However, less than 5% of Dr. Levinson's
LASIK patients are wearing any correction for distance.
Myth #2 "It's over in a day."
That is true 90% of the time. However, about 10%
of LASIK patients need an enhancement. This is very safe, painless
and done free of charge after your vision has stabilized from the
initial procedure, which takes about three months.
Myth #3 "There are no negative after
effects."
Recovery from LASIK is amazingly fast. However, there
are some side effects that commonly occur. Most patients will notice
glare or halos at night, as well as possible dryness of the eyes,
and may experience mild vision fluctuation. Many patients say the
glare is no worse than what they experienced with their glasses
or contact lenses. Dryness can easily be treated with lubricating
eye drops. Each of these side effects diminishes over time, usually
within 3 to 6 months.
Myth #4 "Complications? What complications?"
Lasik surgery complications
occur in less than 1% of Dr. Levinson's LASIK patients and can usually
be treated successfully.
